Maurice of Saxony (1696-1750), son of Frédéric-Auguste I, Elector of Saxony, and the Countess Maria Aurora of Königsmarck, was Marshal of Louis XV's camps and armies. He is depicted in military uniform, wearing his armor and the sky blue ribbon of the Order of the Holy Spirit, the most illustrious order bestowed by the French monarchy.
