Originally situated in Tianshan village, Gaoyou county, about 45 kilometres northwest of Yangzhou, the Han tombs in Shenju hills was first discovered in 1979 when a group of people were quarrying for stones. The four stone-wooden-chambered tombs from the Western Han Dynasty was built more than two thousand years ago, of which tombs No.1 and No.2 were built in the style known as “ Huang Chang Ti Cou”, representing the highest funeral rite in Han Dynasty. Archeological study shows that those rested in the tombs were Liu Xu, the first king of Guangling, and his wife the queen, heavily dug and robbed as they were in earlier times.
