Full title: L’historial du jongleur: chroniques et légendes françaises. This is a collection of fun stories by the French historiographer Ferdinando Langlé (1798-1867) and the writer Émile Morice (1797-1836), based on the medieval writer Christophe Malivoira. In imitating a medieval manuscript, the book was illustrated by hand, although only the first printed books contained rubrics and were illuminated by hand.
Artists Henry Monnier (1799-1877) and Eugène Lami (1800-1890) created seven colored and gilded initials in the text, four miniatures, and three ornamental frames with initials.
