The mullioned windows of the summerhouse at Mapperton in winter

The mullioned 17th century windows of the summerhouse give views over the Pool Garden and down the combe to the arboretum and beyond. The chimney is fed by a fireplace which allowed Mrs Ethel Labouchere, who lived here in the 1920s, to keep painting even on cold winter days. She was a keen watercolourist.
