After receiving the Grand Prix for ¡Triste Herencia! In 1900 he met painters such as Sargent, Zorn and Boldini in Paris, with whom he became good friends. In addition, on 28 July he gave the name of "Calle del Pintor Sorolla" to the old Calle de las Barcas in Valencia.

From then on, he made numerous trips around Spain to experiment with the changes in light in different places. Thus, once he had consolidated his international recognition, he focused on developing his characteristic facet as a painter of light. He paints outdoors, at different times of the day and with a wide range of bright colours. His trips to Asturias with El Nalón.
