A view from the south-west, from Kosciuszko Street, to the New Synagogue, designed by Edwin Oppler, erected in 1872 in the Świdnickie Suburb (Schweidnitzer Vorstadt). It was the second-largest synagogue in Germany at that time, after the Berlin synagogue. It was destroyed in 1938 during the Kristallnacht (The “Night of Broken Glass”).
Siegfried Laboschin (1868 Gniezno – 1929 Wrocław), painter, graphic artist, engraver, and art critic of Jewish origin. From 1892 he lived permanently in Wrocław, where he opened a school of painting. Between 1907 and 1929 he ran the art section of the “Breslauer Zeitung”.
