In pendant with the allegory of the Day, in the right panel of the ceiling of the Room of Night and Day, Vignali painted the allegory of the Night. In a leaden sky full of clouds, the figure of the Night, taken from the same Michelangelo’s subject of the New Sacristy, stands out against the thin circle of a crescent moon.
