The Oak Tree

Edward Dayes

United Kingdom

Dayes was primarily a topographical watercolour painter though he experimented with other subjects, including History painting, and other mediums. He followed closely the prinicipals of the Royal Academy of Arts, London and its traditional standards. This was at a time when young artists like J M W Turner (1775 - 1851) were developing new watercolour techniques and challenging the pre-dominance of History painting in Britain.
