The old city of Sa’ada, the only main center of this region, is entirely made of zabur. Its peculiar architectonical style is unique as even the defensive wall was constructed of this humble material. Its tower houses can be five storeys high with very simple external decoration that is identifiable by the white or ocher edging of each opening.
