The Organic Regulation, a proto-constitution of Wallachia (Southern Romania), marked a de jure abolition of the death penalty between 13 July 1831 and 11 March 1832, doubled by a de facto abolition confirmed between July 1831 and January 1834.
"Art. 298. The Lord will be able to decrease the punishment for perpetrators and even forgive some crimes. Cutting hands, the death penalty, torture and forced labor are abolished and they will not be applied from now on (…)"
