This small oil painting depticts the Original Oak at Night, in Headingley and is by the Leeds artist, Walter Meegan.

Earlier paintings by J.N. Rhodes of the Skyrack Oak show it very much dead but still sporting many branches. By the time Walter Meegan painted it, the branches had been trimmed (presumably to allow the trams to pass by safely). The tree was finally cut down in 1941.
