This engraving shows the Peak Cavern, which has the largest natural cave entrance in the British Isles. The cave was known as the Devil's Arse and appears in William Camden's 'Britannia' under that name in 1586. Its name was changed to Peak Cavern in 1880, for Queen Victoria's visit.
