The "Placerville Highway"

William McCarthy took this photograph on a road trip through the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California in 1927. In his photograph captions, Mr. McCarthy referred to what is now Interstate 80 as the "Truckee Highway" and Highway 50 as the "Placerville Highway."
