Since 2010 The Platform has been a youth centre. The building was constructed in Swindon's Railway Village between 1847 and 1854 as a model lodging house for single men. It became known as The Barracks and was later converted into a chapel, opening in 1869. Nearly a century later, it became a museum of the Great Western Railway.
