The beautiful portrait bears the signature and the date of execution: "Van Loo / 1759". The canvas portrays Marquise Anna Malaspina (Parma 1727 - 1797), better known in Arcadia by the name of Fiorilla Dianeia, wife of the captain of the ducal guards Giovanni Malaspina della Bastia, and lady-in-waiting of the Duchess Louise Elisabeth. She stayed with the Infanta at the French court of Versailles for about three years and it's to this period of time that the artwork could date back. This office allowed her to establish herself at court and win the favor of Duke Philip of Bourbon and the affection of Du Tillot, Prime Minister of the Duchy. By spending time with the minister, she soon became the animator of the renewal of Parma, not only by supporting culture, but also taking an interest in economic reforms.
