The Present One

Dumas’ portraits are based on photographs, film stills and television images. Everyone is a potential model, from celebrities to strangers and people from her own surroundings. The Attendant is a portrait of the remarkable Mrs. Oppenoorth, who supported Dumas at the beginning of her career. Mrs. Oppenoorth had lived in Dordrecht, and is also buried there. This is why this specific work was added to the museum collection.
