In this project created for the exhibition Look Here! (2018), Melissa Wagner-Lawler uses a work held in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) Libraries’ Special Collections entitled The Grammar of Ornament, by Owen Jones, and maps from the UWM Libraries’ Digital Collections. After researching map images of the land boundaries of the areas and ornamentation covered in The Grammar of Ornament, the artist created new visual landscapes using the decorative ornaments from the text.
