In 1808 the new Jewish cemetery was opened in the area between Lehel road and Dózsa György road. Separate parcels were given to the Kohans, the members of the women’s associations, and the rabbis. The second tomb from the left is the tomb of Rabbi Löw Schwab, where the lion hints to the deceased’s name. Further down are the tombs of renowned rabbies Rabbi Stern, Rabbi Azriel Brill, Rabbi Josef Bach and Rabbi Israel Wahrmann. The overcrowded gravestone was closed by the city authorities in 1874, and instead, the Jewish cemetery at Salgótarjáni road was used as the Jewish cemetery.
