The discovery of important archaeological finds in Sangiran was in no small part attributed to the hard work of local Indonesians. Before the Indonesian Independence, foreign researchers were not able to monitor research in Sangiran independently. They needed locals to help at the field, at first to show potential locations. Andoyo (Perning), Atmowidjoyo, and Toto Marsono (Sangiran) were the locals who worked hard assisting the foreign researchers, digging out bones directly from earth so the world could learn about the Early Man and his environment.
