The Rebirth of Ruby

Laura says: "Ruby is a Specialist Nurse in Organ Donation who assesses patients that have been referred for consideration of donation. During the crisis she has been working at St. Thomas' Hospital's ICU. Upon perusing Ruby's Instagram, I found her to be funny, lively and a true original! Having posted about her reluctance to wear PPE on public transportation when this began, I decided to paint her without it, as a way to maintain her sense of humour and originality. Like Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus (1480)' the wind captures her hair and mask, serving as a symbol of her work of 'breathing life' into needy recipients."
