Luo Gongliu, born in Kaiping, Guangdong province. 1936 admitted to National Academy of Art to study painting. 1938 went to Yan’an and entered Lu Xun Literature and Art Academy. 1946 to 1949 taught in the College of Literature and Art in The Northern University and North China University. 1949 participated in the formation of China Central Academy of Fine Arts and taught there in the next year. 1950 took part in the design of the second, third and forth series of RMB. Served as vice president of China Central Academy of Fine Arts, secretary of the Secretariat of China Artists Association, committee member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
