The first wharf built in Redondo Beach was constructed in 1889 to service lumber trade from the Pacific Northwest. Two additional wharfs were added in 1895 and 1903. The Santa Fe Railroad transported cargo inland. In 1916, the first of many Pleasure Piers was erected next to the existing wharfs. Photograph inscribed: "26. Scene on Redondo Wharf."
