- Long Description: The painter from Rome, Giovanni Odazzi (1663 - 1731) depicted The Rest on the Flight into Egypt after 1720. The picture was brought from the Vurberk castle. The scene of the Holy Family taking rest while fleeing from Herod's soldiers, was painted following the apocryphal Gospel and Legenda Aurea. Beside the composition in Ptuj Castle Gallery there are two other known versions - one is in the Walters Gallery in Baltimore and the other in private property. (dr. Polona Vidmar, Branko Vnuk)
