In his speech Mr Gorton said: "You have a magnificent record as a club - and I believe that at one time or another you have held practically every championship title in surfing in this country".

"I hope I don't bring other clubs after me in full cry for saying that, but I am told it is true. And from what I hear the competition is getting tougher".

The official party had lunch at Bondi Diggers' Club and after the ceremony and carnival at the Club, they were entertained at Bondi Icebergs.
