The Sacrifice of Abraham

Prophecy came true. A son was born to Abraham and Sarah. The God decided to test the intensity of faith of his elect and ordered him to sacrifice his only son.
The moment of the highest tension is depicted in the fresco – Abraham, holding a knife over the head of his son, ready to sacrification. But a figure of winged angel already appears above him, pointing to another victim, a lamb that got entrapped in a branchy bush.
