The seal of the city of Münster

The wax seal of Münster, dating from the first half of 16th century, is unusually double-sided. One side depicts a half-figure of a saint with a sword, the other shows a monastery. The Latin inscription states that it is a sigillum secretum used for the private correspondence of the city or letters secret as opposed to the open letters meant for the public (letters patent).
