KIM Byungki(1916-) has been known as an art theorist rather than an artist in Korea. KIM worked with Kim Chan-young, one of Korean artists who had introduced the western art for the first time and accelerated the introduction after graduating at the Art School in Tokyo. KIM has led Korean art scene with his colleague including Lee Jung-seup. KIM has also proclaimed and disseminated an Avant-garde movement as a leading theoretical figure. KIM's artistic career as an abstractionist has started early from right after the liberation from the rules of Japanese troops. This relatively recent work is representational and expressive. He reveals the experience after making a journey to Paris. This work has changed from a lyric and abstract style that he pursued previously.
