This naughty little boy represents the Sense of Taste. Molenaer, a Haarlem painter who married Judith Leyster in 1636, painted a number of series of the five senses during his career. Although not a greatly gifted artist, Molenaer here achieves a very convincing portrayal in the look and attitude of the boy.
