Our Lady of Sorrows is one the advocations by which the Catholic Church venerates the Virgin Mary. To illustrate the pains of the Virgin as Mother of Jesus, she is shown holding in his right hand the heart pierced by seven swords, symbol of one of the seven major pains written in the Gospels and Mary receives the name of Queen of Martyrs.
