The Shewing Up of Blanco Posnet by George Bernard Shaw.

In this production photograph we see Fred O'Donovan as Blanco Posnet and Sara Allgood as Feemy Evans in the world premiere of The Shewing up of Blanco Posnet by George Bernard Shaw,1909. The play had been refused a licence in England on the grounds of blasphemy. As the censor's power didn't extend to Ireland the Abbey Theatre produced the play in 1909, despite threats by the English administration at Dublin Castle that the patent of the theatre would be revoked.
