During the Polish-Swedish wars (1655-1660), the documents stating the rights of the Jews of Oświęcim were lost. These documents recorded the rights of residence, trade, real estate purchasing, and production of alcohol. This document is a request by Eliyahu Markowicz for the official documents to be re-issued. Markowicz was a shtadlan, or intercessor, an official representing the Jewish community to the town, state, and church authorities. Collection of the National Archives in Kraków.
