The sites of Nimbus

How are dreams made? Dutch artist Berndnaut Smilde explores this question in his photography series Nimbus MCAAD, where human-crafted clouds serve as a metaphor for building the American Dream. Smilde uses a precise process to control water vapor, light, and humidity to organically create a cloud: a delicate balance of time, patience, and practice.In August 2024, Smilde traveled to four significant sites, each representing one of the four pillars of the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream.
