Oil painting on canvas "The Smoke Signal" by E.W. Gollings. Depicts a Native Americans on horseback. One figure wears a coyote headdress on a brown horse. Another rider with /a bow, shield and spear on a white horse. A third rider in the middle ground wears a white coat and has spear. Distant hills line the background and white smoke rises into the gold sky from a flat butte. 36" H x 60" W

The painting was purchased for the Wyoming House of Representatives. Elling William Gollings (17 March 1878 – 16 April 1932) was born in Pierce City, Idaho Territory. His paintings are known for their accurate accounting of the Old West. Gollings drew upon his own personal experiences as a cowboy, and was also known to have studied and admired the drawings of Frederic Remington. Hans He signed with last name and a pony track insignia.
