The Special Class Railway Apprentices Hostel (known as 'Gymkhana') at Jamalpur where young apprentices graduate to become Mechanical Engineers. Built in 1929 in the contemporary style of the period, this front view shows the brick finish, eaves across the entire front and the large semicircular grille windows and small square ventilators that break the tedium of the brick surface. This is one of the very few buildings that remained unaffected by the 1934 Bihar earthquake and has remained unchanged for more than 80 years.
