The stairway of knowledge

Sculpture by Alfonso Alzamora, painter, sculptor and great grandson of the composer Isaac Albéniz. This work, which was created at the prestigious Pere Casanovas studio, was donated by the Vila Casas Foundation and installed on UPF’s Ciutadella campus in 2016, in commemoration of the Year of Ramon Llull. It consists of 36 cubes arranged in the form of a stairway with eight levels, an allusion to Ramon Llull’s philosophical concept of the ‘ladder of knowledge’.
