Sichuan Museum

Sichuan Museum
Chengdu, China

This large circular sculpture statue with the height of 2.9m was unearthed at the place that is 5m deep under the water of Waijiang River below the suspension bridge in Dujiangyan, Sichuan Province in March, 1974. Inscription on the statue indicates that it is the statue of Li Bing, a county chief of Shu State in Qin Dynasty, who took charge of building Dujiangyan and the statue is inscribed with exact time of construction. The statue is grandiose and simple and has a dignified bearing, which well shows the temperament of Li Bing. It is not only a consummate artwork but also very important research information for the history of Dujiangyan.
