The Storming of Prague

The contemporary journal “Theatrum Europaeum” continuously published descriptions of important events in Europe. This image shows the Swedish attack on Prague in 1648. This was the last major battle of the Thirty Years War and is mostly considered to be a downright looting campaign orchestrated by Queen Kristina of Sweden to enrich her vast collection of art.
