The drawing depicts the seven novellatrici of The "Decameron" by Giovanni Boccaccio and is therefore inspired by the proemio of this book. It was executed at the invitation of the national body Giovanni Boccaccio to appear at the exhibition 'homage to G. Boccaccio' held in Certaldo in 1967. The artist finds in the' proemio ' of Decameron the opportunity to group more female figures thus satisfying his habitual tendency to compose women. The drawing is characteristic of the extreme activity of the master, in which the figures are identified only with a few, deep contour lines with essential and geometric rhythms.
