The Old Fonds of the historical archive of Colegio de San Ignacio de Loyola, Vizcaínas contains information about the lives of the women in the institutions that protected them in the 16th-19th centuries. Since the early years of the colonization of Mexico a home was established to give shelter to Mestizo girls, who were the product of relationships between the Spanish conquerors, and indigenous women left abandoned on the streets of the cities. The Fonds represent a rich source to learn about the lives of these women as well as the civil society developed social project targeted at solving the physical, spiritual and moral issues of this population.
