The traditional design consisted of a 0-6-0 wheel arrangement equipped with 'Hayward' axles.

Essentially Klein Lindner articulated coupled axles which allowed them to negotiate the sharp curves necessary on the mountain lines of Neral-Matheran Section located near Bombay (Now Mumbai).
