The Triumphal Arches, Vauxhall Gardens

On the right of this engraving is the statue in memory of the composer George Frideric Handel. His “Fireworks Music” was first performed in Vauxhall Gardens to an audience of 12,000. The gardens were also the first place in Britain to exhibit contemporary art.
