Arguably the stylistic leader of the Pennsylvania impressionist school of painting, Edward W. Redfield was one of the most popular and widely exhibited landscape painters in America during the early decades of the 20th century. Within the first decade of its creation, Upper Delaware traveled to the Albright Art Gallery (Buffalo), the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (Philadelphia), the Milwaukee Art Institute, Macbeth Gallery (New York), and the Grand Rapids Art Gallery.
