With the Arc de Triomphe at l'Etoile in Paris as a backdrop, Marshals Joffre and Foch lead the procession, followed by Generals Weygand (behind Foch) and Belin (behind Joffre, not visible), then the liaison officers of the allied armies, and behind them, the inter-allied staff officers.
The lower section of the painting shows a cutout (of a door) camouflaged by the resumption of the canvas in a more relaxed style.
