Ravi Varma's eldest daughter with her one-year-old son, Marthanda Varma. Mahaprabha's beauty inspired her farther to often adapt her classical features in his paintings. 'There Comes Papa' is one of the ten paintings sent by Ravi Varma to the International Exhibition in Chicago in 1894. He was advised to add a dog to the painting with the reason that the dog would be and added attraction for American viewers. Over a century ago, household pets were seldom seen in Indian homes, as they were considered unclean.
