The thirteenth station depicts the deposition of Christ from the cross, rendered with dramatic movement and emotion. The two men lowering Christ’s lifeless body are positioned on the right side of the composition, with the farther figure carefully bearing the weight of Christ, whose body falls limp into the arms of a younger man. On the left side, two women—representing the Mother of Christ and another female disciple—are portrayed with expressions of shock and deep sorrow, in a manner reminiscent of traditional African expressions of grief.
Through this piece, Onabrakpeya not only conveys the biblical event of Christ’s death but also enriches the narrative with African visual elements. The composition’s emotional intensity, enhanced by the figures' gestures, aligns with the artist's consistent practice of blending African cultural expression with spiritual themes.
