Three circular medals (L-R 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) suspended from blue ribbons and mounted in a black frame with white and gold matt board. Each medal features the same design on the face: a stylised image of three people commencing a race from starting position behind the shape of Australia surrounded by a white enamel depiction of the constellation the Southern Cross. The fifth star in the constellation is represented by a star shape cut out in the medal, located in the same place Melbourne is located on an Australian map. Surrounding the outer edge of each medal is the text, "20TH DEAFLYMPICS SUMMER GAMES / 5 - 16 JANUARY 2005 MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA". The ribbon for each medal is blue with the 5 fingered coloured logo of the Deaflympics next to the text, "MELBOURNE 2005 / 20th DEAFLYMPIC GAMES / 5TH - 16TH JANUARY". Hanging wire is attached on the reverse.
