A masterpiece of Victorian silk work came with an attached typed note that read “Made about 1870 by Elizabeth Parkhurst Williams, aunt of Edward C. Parkhurst. Exhibited (in Rhode Island) and corners finished by Mrs. Edward C. Parkhurst.” Mrs. (Mae) Parkhurst was the aunt of Ellen Sampson’s paternal grandmother, Nydia A. Wilcox Sampson. This entire family has lived for generations in New England.
