A pile woven throne rug with triple arch-shaped top; peony branch central motif in dark blue, light blue and white surmounting two downward facing white blossoms, all on a golden-yellow ground; central motifs framed by narrow white, light and dark blue borders following the contour of the arched shape of the rug; beyond this a wider yellow border filled with individual white and blue blossoms, this framed by a three-part outer border of narrow dark and light blue lines followed by a wider band of dark blue; wool pile and weft on appears to be machine-spun cotton warp; asymmetrical knots; the rug is backed with a gold-yellow cloud patterned silk damask lining.
