The tile was baked from smooth earthenware clay, which became water-resistant only after covering with the glaze layer. The formed and pre-fired tiles were covered with glaze composed of silica, lead oxide and tin oxide - this glaze, after drying, formed a white velvety base on which the pattern was created. The sketch of the pattern was applied using a template. The template was made of thick paper on which the drawing was applied by means of perforation. The template was placed on a glaze-covered tile and sprinkled with wood ash - such a sketch was immediately corrected with a soft brush with the so-called large fire paints - including cobalt oxide (blue). The pattern of this tile shows a scene from the New Testament showing the crucifixion of Christ, John 19:26, 27
