Tiled rooms were typical of the Valencia region, at the Mediterranean coast of Spain. This type of decoration have become a valuable source of information on the fashion, uses and habits of well-off families in this region. This ante-kitchen belonged to a mansion in Valencia of the late 18th century and the tiles were made in one of the main tile factories in the city. The ante-kitchen has more than 1.500 tiles and its life-size figures represents different social classes (servants, women and companions), together with food, kitchen utensils and anecdotal scenes with cats and dogs, framed with borders of lace, wild flowers and leaves.
